Janet began Tap, Ballet and Jazz lessons at age 7 to aid in recovering from an illness and found a lifelong passion. She added fitness as a second passion 30+ years ago. She is gold-certified by the American Council on exercise (ACE) and teaches interval, cardio/ strength, step, stretch, dance aerobics, Barre and Zumba formats as well as Tap and Jazz. She is a six-time gold medalist in the Arizona Senior Olympics Aerobic Competition.
Janet co-owned a dance, aerobics and gymnastics studio in Mesa for 12 years, where she taught dance and fitness classes evenings and weekends while working and traveling for her full-time job as an administrative officer with the U. S. Department of Justice.
She was the lead instructor for "Brainsavers," a six-month pilot program designed to delay the onset of Alzheimer's and like diseases. Janet is also a musical theater choreographer. Her credits include productions of "Jack and the Beanstalk" for Phoenix Children's Theater, "Nunsense," "Young Frankenstein, the Musical," "9 to 5, the Musical," "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, the Musical," and "Title of Show," for the Almost Famous Theater Company in Phoenix.
